So what did you think about this car? I have only seen pics of it with 4 doors. I hope that is not the only way it comes!! I don't think they did the body of the car justice for what is was. It looks like a warmed up Sunfire on steroids to me, even if the V8 is available for it.

It's only 2 door and only V8. Engine &Power All-aluminum 6.0L Gen IV LS2 V8 engine with 400 hp and 400 lb-ft torque.
It's a great package with a Grand Am look. The 06 Judge concept they drove on the Woodward Dream Cruise was the best.

Heres a concept drawing.

I swear I saw a 4-door model and it turned me off. I'll look it back up tomorrow and see if I just had a brain fart. Don't Know

Turns out the picture I saw got taken down and replaced, they had the wrong one up! Whew, I thought old age was hitting in. Even looking at the correct car, I still think they should have done more with it.

The only issues with the 05GTO was that it was boring and ugly and far too expensive. It had all the power and handling you could ask for in a street car with a back seat. It just always looked like it was standing still.
The problem is, all the new GM bodies (except Caddys and Vettes) are fairly ugly and mondane.

GM needs to come up with a GTO that has an exciting body, and that comes in under $25K. Personally, I'd gladly give up things like PW, PDL, and a lot of other fluff for a 400hp 2 door hard top with 5 or 6 speed manual, a bullet proof rearend, fantastic handling, and the right price.

Real muscle cars were not usually adorned with a lot of options. Options add weight. Horse power and torque, handling and killer good looks, and a price tag MOST people can deal with. That's the ticket.

350 is plenty. Like I said only problem with the GTO was mondane looks, and high price. Other than that, damn good car. Quick, agile, and responsive. Just boring to look at. Thumbright

I don't like the Grand Am look or the IRS. GM said it was supposed to compete with BMW....WTF?????? It is the GTO for God's sake! The first American muscle car! It should be hunting stangs,f bodies etc...not Z3's! Angry
Of course I don't like the Charger either. Not very pretty but 4 doors? Angry

Well, actually muscle cars started in the 50's. THe GTO was the first midsized car, low priced, striped down, high performance car. I could never understand how it came to be known as the "First Muscle Car". It might be the popular opinion, but it not correct, or accurate.

I know there were some hot cars in the 50's and that's where the trend kinda started rolling good. What size was the engine in a 55-57 Chevy?
The baddest one was the fuel inj version in 57 and it was a 283.
I don't consider the f bodies and stangs to be muscle cars, they are pony cars. They are between muscle and sports cars.
Chrysler had some hemi motors out in the 50's too.
What do you consider the 1st muscle car?
